No place in the country takes this traditional saying to heart more than Western North Carolina. The region is quickly becoming a Mecca for green engineering. Real estate companies, builders, suppliers, even modular or “off-site” home companies know the long-term value and return of green construction. These companies know that everything they (we) do and do not do environmentally ends up as a legacy to future generations.

Green Building

Thanks to improvements made in building processes and materials, homes built today are 100 percent more energy-efficient than homes built in the 70s. The advances include more durable roof coverings, better insulated windows, increased amounts of insulation, plus high-efficiency heating, cooling, and water heating devices and equipment.

The developments seen over especially the last few months point to one inevitable truth — residential and commercial green building is no longer a trend; it is the future of building.

From the Bottom Up

Where does one start with their desire to build green? As with any type of structure it starts at the bottom. Green homes do more than just provide economical ways to heat water, keep out the cold or recycle some landfill-destined materials. They incorporate environmental considerations and resource efficiency into every step of the process, including minimizing environmental impact.
