The Triangle Communities
North Carolina’s Research Triangle region is one of the most popular, most respected, and most livable metropolitan areas in the country. Anchored by the cities of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, the Triangle is consistently lauded as one of the nation’s top relocation destinations, and for good reason.
With the heralded Research Triangle Park and the three research universities – including the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), North Carolina State University (NCSU) and Duke University – helping fuel the local economy, the region is one of the nation’s healthiest in terms of jobs and job potential.
In addition, according to recent reports, the area has fared relatively well in during the economic downturn. It was ranked as the strongest region in North Carolina by the Brookings Institution, a large research firm, and among the top 40 metropolitan areas in the country. According to the report, the rise in employment during from 2008 to 2009 was 4.6 percent, which beats many other areas of similar populations.
Also, according to a recent report in Raleigh’s News & Observer, more Triangle employers expect to hire during the second quarter, according to a quarterly survey by Manpower.
