Triad Communities

Writers such as Thomas Wolfe pay tribute to North Carolina’s majestic mountains and “The Road to Rodanthe” highlights the state’s coastal beauty. Author John Hart from Greensboro has penned best selling novels about his home state, extolling its beauty and people, enticing outsiders to come and visit. The state’s natural assets are but a few of the reasons why North Carolina is one of the nation’s top relocation destinations.

Visitors to North Carolina spent $16.9 billion in 2008, a 2.1 percent increase over 2007. More than 20 counties generated over $150 million in visitor spending including Guilford and Forsyth counties, which are home to Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point.

Greensboro is the largest city in the region with an estimated population of 233,000; Winston-Salem has 217,000 residents, while High Point is home to 95,086. Each is unique and offers distinct opportunities and lifestyles. Collectively they are known as the Triad.
