Western North Carolina Communities

If you ask 100 people to describe their dream home, chances are you’ll get many different answers. Because there isn’t a cookie-cutter layout of what comprises a dream home, potential home buyers should have a pretty good idea about their wants and needs before they begin touring different homes.

The good news is that Western North Carolina offers a plethora of choices that will satisfy your every desire. From apartments, condominiums, and townhomes to single-family homes and estates, you may find yourself torn between two or more different homes because the homes are so amazing in the region.

If you’re looking for spectacular home sites nestled in majestic mountain peaks and rolling valleys, then French Broad Crossing, developed by The Preserve Communities, might be the place for you.

Located 30 minutes from Asheville, French Broad Crossing features 40 home sites in Phase I that range from the low $100s to the $500s. Phase II offers home sites along a bend in the French Broad River that start in the mid-$100s, according to developer’s Web site.

When it comes to amenities, French Broad Crossing residents can enjoy the River Lodge, which features a gourmet Viking kitchen, a fitness center, a pool and hot tub, a reflection garden, and a grand patio that overlooks a section of Class 3 rapids. And if you’re looking to get back to nature, the community’s Elbow Hollow Conservation Area is the perfect place to discover plant life and mountain flowers, stroll down a scenic trail, cast a line, or drop in your raft or tube.

The River Park and Pavilion, which is under construction and is expected to open this summer, will offer a covered picnic pavilion with a nearby grill, a volleyball area, and horseshoe pits.

Just eight short miles separate Bridges of Asheville from downtown, where classic amenities will meet bold creeks, breathtaking mountain views, and river meadows. Bridges of Asheville, which is another Preserve Communities development, spans over a mile of frontage on the French Broad River with its initial offering becoming available in fall 2008.

If you’d rather live on the outskirts of Asheville, then you may want to take a look at Highland Forest’s fantastic home sites, which are priced from the $300s. Located on a tranquil mountaintop above the historic Main Street of Waynesville, Highland Forest is a nature lover’s paradise with incredible sunsets, abundant wildlife, and clear mountain spring-fed streams.

Highland Forest, also developed by The Preserve Communities, features two- to three-acre mountain home sites with elevations from 3,900 to 5,700 feet; underground utilities; wide, and all-weather paved roads.
