You probably don’t have finding a new dentist at the top of your priority list following a move to a new location. Surprisingly, however, establishing a relationship with a dental care provider should be one of the things you first consider after arriving in your new location, according to the American Dental Society.
“To get established, some wait times for new patients may be up to two to three months,” said Michael S. Wasson, DMD, PA. “If you have an emergency on a weekend or holiday, it would be harder to be seen if you are not already an established patient. So it is imperative for your family’s dental health to establish a relationship sooner rather than later.”
“We used to choose our doctors and dentist simply by asking our friends and co-workers whom they go to,” said Robert E. Powell, DDS, of Asheville Dental Care. “While that is still certainly an important step, it is just the first one you need to take in order to find the right dentist for you. When choosing a dentist you need to know what is important to you.”

According to Powell, his office’s relationship to patients is what makes his practice unique. “Beginning with your first appointment, you are involved in developing your plan for your dental health,” he said. “We recognize and understand our patients have different needs and priorities in life, and we work with you to ensure you are receiving the care you want. We also pride ourselves on being hi-tech office. In our facility you will find the very latest in equipment and services that dentistry has to offer.”
Just a few of the services offered at Asheville Dental Care include CEREC, a state of the art computer-aided system that produces custom-fitted, porcelain crowns, veneers and inlays in just one visit; Lumineers, custom-fabricated veneers that fit right over existing teeth; and tooth whitening.

This practice offers zoom whitening, implants, oral sedation, bridges and crowns, and Invisalign orthodontic devices. “We have a comfortable office; it is a great environment with a very helpful staff,” Dr. Wasson said. “When you come in for an appointment, you will feel like you are the only patient we have.”
Wasson reminded newcomers to be fastidious in selecting a new dentist. “Do an Internet search; check out dentist’s site and location,” he said. “Are they close to home? Possibly, do a ‘meet the office’ interview, drop by the office, and take a tour of facilities. Any dentist would love to show you the practice to help you make an informed decision.”
