Cumberland County Community Transportation Program gets grant to expand service
A federal grant is allowing the expansion of a program that provides rural residents with transportation to and from work, according to a news release from the Cumberland County Community Transportation Program.
The grant will let the program increase its services from three to five days, the release said.
The amount of the grant was not given, but the money will help offset a 38 percent decrease in state funding, the release said.
The program provides transportation for residents who do not have vehicles and need rides to and from work, the release said.
The fee is $2.25 for a one-way trip and the services are offered from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, the release said.
Those wanting to use the service must complete an application to determine eligibility, the release said.
Applications can be processed over the phone and the applicant's workplace must be eligible, the release said.
The services are offered only to residents living outside Fayetteville, Hope Mills and Spring Lake.
